Biographical Sketch

Peter Florian Neumeyer was born August 4, 1929 in Munich, Germany. His family feld the Nazi's and arrived in the US in 1936. He worked various odd jobs while attending the University of California at Berkley where he received his B.A., M.A. and PhD. His first book, which was never published, was a simple children's book for his son Christopher who had fallen and broken his leg.

Peter Neumeyer taught for several years at Harvard University and San Diego University where he developed a large children's literature collection. He is now retired but continues to write reviews for newspapers and children's literature publications.
