Born in Washington DC, Margaret Fleming Atkinson, worked as an author
and illustrator of books for young people throughout her life. Her first book
was published in 1944, self-illustrated, entitled How to
Raise Your Puppy .
Atkinson is noted for her juvenile books on ballet dancing.
