Biographical Sketch

Mario Rivoli was born January 31, 1943, in New York, NY. With the combination of a tumultuous home life and a debilitating case of polio at the tender age of seventeen months, Rivoli, in his own words, "did a splendid job of creating my fantasy". His artistic fantasy began early, a two year old drawing on the linoleum, followed by art adventures in New York's School of Visual Art and the Art Students League and a bit of clowning around at Newvillage School for Clowns from 1960 to 1965. He has illustrated books such as A Song For Clowns, Do Tigers Ever Bite Kings? Best Foot Forward .
