Biographical Sketch

George Cruikshank was a noted caricaturist and illustrator. He was born in London in 1792 and died there in 1878. He had little schooling and no formal art training, but learned his craft in his father's studio. He contributed illustrations to more than 200 books in association with many of the leading authors of his time, including Dickens, Fielding, and the Grimm Brothers.
