Biographical Sketch

Chodos-Irvine grew up in Southern California, but moved north as soon as she was able. She received degrees in anthropology and in art from the University of Oregon, and then settled in Seattle, Washington. She worked as a commercial illustrator for many years before she began her career as an illustrator of children’s books. Her work has earned her a number of honors and awards, include a Caldecott Honor in 2004, for Ella Sarah Gets Dressed .
