Biographical Sketch

Leo DIllon was born March 2, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York. He married Diane Sorber Dillon, an artist, and the two have collaborated in creating art work and illustrations ever since. Together the couple has received many honors and awards, including two Caldecotts, for Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears and Ashanti to Zulu . In addition to illustrating children's books, they have also done significant work in illustrating science fiction. Much of their work has African or African-American themes.
