Biographical Sketch of Glen
Author and illustrator Harry Glen Dines was born in 1925 in Casper,
Wyoming. During World War II he served in the military, working as a staff
artist for Stars and Stripes . He attended the University of
Washington; Art Center School, Los Angeles; and Sacramento State College. He
married Ruth Goldberg in 1954 and had two children, Lisa and Woody. Dines died

The Glen Dines papers contains sketches, color separations, and
paste-ups for two titles, Bull Wagon and
Mountain Men , as well as a papier-mâché tiger
Dines created to model for his illustrations in A Tiger
in the Cherry Tree .
