Patricia Calvert is a noted author of novels for young adults. She
was born In Great Falls, Montana in 1931 and was raised in rural Montana during
the Depression. By the age of ten she knew that she wanted to be a writer. She
attended Winona State University in Minnesota, receiving her B.A. in 1976. It
wasn't until her children were grown and had left home that Calvert fulfilled
her childhood dream to write. Her first novel, The
Snowbird, was published in 1980 for which she received numerous awards.
She had written almost twenty novels.
