Young Mac of
Fort Vancouver, 1940
Mary Jane Carr was born in Portland, Oregon and attended St. Mary's
College in her home state. She was the associate editor of the
Catholic Sentinel for several years and then
worked on the Oregonian before writing children's
books. Her first book for children was Children of the
Covered Wagon which was a selection of the Junior Literary Guild as was
her second book, Young Mac of Fort Vancouver.
