Biographical Sketch

Jean Russell Larson was born July 25, 1930 in Marshalltown IA. She attended Winthrop College 1948-49; Buena Vista University (B.A.); Iowa State University (M.A.). An educator and author, her writings have consisted primarily of retelling folk tales. Her first book was published in 1966. She has been a contributor to Scholastic News and Junior Great Books . Awards and Honors include Notable Book designation, American Library Association; Lewis Carroll Shelf Award; William Allen White award nominee.
