Biographical Note
After receiving his BS in Electrical engineering from Washington
University in 1943, Eldo C. Koenig began at Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing
Company as a test engineer. He completed his MS at the Illinois Institute of
Technology in 1949 and received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin in
1956. Koenig held various positions at Allis-Chalmers including supervisor of
the computer laboratory. In 1962, he left Allis-Chalmers to take a teaching
position with the University of Wisconsin. Koenig was active in several
professional organizations including the Association for Computing Machinery
and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Collection Scope and Content Note
The collection contains records related to Eldo Koenig's development
of an analog computer for the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company of West
Allis, Wisconsin, to aid in engineering studies. The collection documents the
design and construction process for the computer, and a photograph of the
computer. In addition, the collection contains case studies done with the via
computer, a photocopy of Koenig's Alfred Nobel Prize, and citations to Koenig's
articles on the development of the computer.
