Acquisition Information:

The records were given to the Charles Babbage Institute by Unisys Corporation in 1991, accession 991-35. The J. Jay Wolf Papers, 1954-1970, collection (CBI 74) was given to CBI by J. Jay Wolf in 1987 and was integrated into Wolf’s papers in the Burroughs Collection (CBI 90) in 2002.

Biographical Note

J. Jay Wolf worked for the Defense and Space group of Burroughs Corporation in their research and technology division, specifically on military computers and systems, for over 30 years.


Collection Scope and Content Note

This series contains information on many computers that Burroughs designed for the military, usually the Air Force and/or NASA to provide guidance for missiles or spacecraft. Materials include reports on Burroughs' contribution to guidance programs, miscellaneous reports, correspondence, diagrams and programs. Prominently documented computers include the D84, D85, D210, D825, and ATLAS. There is also information on software used on guidance computers.
