Biographical Note

Walter Carlson chaired the American Federation of Information Processing Societies' History of Computing Committee in the mid-to-late 1980s. He was also an executive at International Business Machines (IBM).


Collection Scope and Content Note

Contains documents, photographs, and audiovisuals related to American Federation of Information Processing Societies (AFIPS), its History of Computing Committee (HOCC), and work preserving the history of computing.

Also contained in the collection are a slide tape show on the history of computing, photographs and slides of AFIPS-sponsored conferences, and video and audio clips from media conference coverage. Photographs of significant AFIPS figures have been removed to CBI's photograph collection.
