Historical Note

The Total Information for Educational Systems (TIES) program was located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Its objectives were to develop a cooperative educational data processing system for the area, to establish a data processing staff devoted to the needs of elementary and secondary education, to provide for the development of an educational data processing system that could be used as a model for a state-wide data processing system, to expand the use of the computer as an educational tool, to provide specialized computer services for personnel purposes and instructional uses, to make available to school personnel new resources and instructional techniques, to provide a system for better dissemination of information among schools, and to develop a means of exchange of student information.
