Title: Market and product reports collection Extent: 118 boxes (114.25 cubic feet) Abstract: Collection contains reports on the United States and international computer and electronics industries and markets as well as evaluations of specific computers, peripherals, and software published by a variety of market research firms. Contains reports about computer hardware, software, systems, and computer-related industries primarily in the United States that originated from numerous consulting firms.
Charles Babbage Institute	Title: Charles Babbage collection Extent: 2 boxes (0.7 cubic feet) Abstract: Collection contains addresses given by Babbage at and printed in the Royal Society journal, Philosophical Transactions, photocopies of the manuscript for Passages from the Life of a Philosopher from the Wanganui Museum in New Zealand and notes on the manuscript by Garry J. Tee of the Wanganui Museum. Also included in the collection is a volume of the North British Review containing a favorable review of Babbage's book, the Exposition of 1851; Or, Views of the Industry, the Science, and Government of England, and photocopies of correspondence and addresses by Henry Prevost Babbage on his father's invention of occulting lights for lighthouses and signaling.
Charles Babbage Institute.	Title: Academic computing collection Extent: 40 boxes (35.75 cubic feet) Abstract: Contains literature about computer hardware, software, and systems that originated or were developed at specific academic institutions. Since many universities can be identified with certain developments in information processing, this collection provides some access to information about projects (such as Project MAC, and the ILLIAC, ORDVAC, and Whirlwind computers) and systems (such as ALOHA). Information about any one topic is not necessarily comprehensive, e.g. there may be only a few items relating to any one computer. In some cases the collection also includes information relating to the academic computing facility itself.

Charles Babbage Institute	Title: United States government computing collection Extent: 41 boxes (40.2 cubic feet) Abstract: The U.S. Government Computing Collection contains government publications, technical reports, descriptions and manuals of computer hardware, software, systems, installations and projects. All of the documents were produced by some agency of the government, and in most cases the documents are concerned with work performed specifically by these agencies.
Charles Babbage Institute	Title: International computing collection Extent: 18 boxes (13.8 cubic feet) Abstract: Contains literature about hardware, software, systems, and installations in countries other than the United States, as well as descriptions of other countries' computing technology (regardless of where those descriptions originated). It also includes comparisons of different countries' computer technology, as well as reports involving multi-national organizations. In general, product literature after 1970 is filed in Computer Company Literature (CBI 12).

Charles Babbage Institute	Title: Engineering Research Associates (ERA)-Remington Rand-Sperry Rand records Extent: 40 boxes (14.2 cubic feet) Abstract: The Engineering Research Associates-Remington Rand-Sperry Rand Records document research, development and production activities at company facilities in St. Paul, Minnesota. Collection consists of technical information on company projects, administrative materials related to the St. Paul location, engineers' files, and materials exhibited at the ERA 40th anniversary event in 1986.

Charlot, Jean, 1898-	Title: Jean Charlot Papers Extent: 4 boxes (5 cu. ft.) Abstract: Jean Charlot's papers focus on his work as an illustrator of children's picture books. The collection contains production materials for twenty-one titles published between 1931 and 1980, and includes ink illustrations, ink and pencil sketches, pencil sketches, watercolor studies, lithographs for an art catalog, dummies, and some notes and photocopies for one title, A First Book, written by Mr. Charlot's wife, Zohmah Charlot. There are also two lithographs for a catalog printed in 1948.

Chase, Mary Ellen 1887-1973	Title: Mary Ellen Chase Papers Extent: .42 linear feet Abstract: The Mary Ellen Chase papers consist of personal correspondence from Mary Ellen Chase to Mildred Hillhouse and her daughters (1936-1941); and Chase's letters to Mathilde Rice Elliott (1936-1967). Both women were friends that Chase made while teaching at the University of Minnesota.
