The collection contains production material for seventy-one titles published between 1938 and 1980, with some correspondence dating from 1984. The collection includes typescripts, notes, correspondence, royalty statements, reviews, galley proofs, illustrations done in a variety of media many with separations, studies and sketches done in a variety of media, separations, dummies, paste-ups, research material, book jackets, and proofs. The collection also contains production material for some unpublished titles and some miscellaneous art work. Many of the titles in this collection were done in collaboration with Edith Hurd, and much of the correspondence is to and from both Clement and Edith Hurd. Additional material related to Clement Hurd's works may be found in the Edith Hurd Collection and the Margaret Wise Brown Collection.
